Retinal (retinaldehyde) is one conversion step closer to retinoic acid, the active form your skin actually benefits from. That means it works faster and at lower concentrations.

Because it’s often better tolerated than retinoid acid, it’s considered the smart option for those who want results without a harsh adjustment period.

That’s not artificial colouring. Retinal itself is bright yellow in its pure form. The pale golden colour you’ll see in the bottle is the ingredient doing its job.

No added dyes are used. This colour does not stain the skin, indicate oxidation, or reflect product strength.

Following B/SKIN’s philosophy, this product is formulated without harmful chemicals and is designed to be gentle, barrier-friendly, and suitable for long-term use.

It is suitable for normal, combination, oily, and acne-prone skin, as well as both first-time retinal users and existing retinol users seeking improved results.

It is not recommended for pregnant women, very sensitive or compromised skin (including active eczema or open wounds), or those using prescription retinoids without professional supervision.

Retinal works at night to support skin cell renewal, improve texture, and target acne. Vitamin C is best used in the morning to brighten the skin, provide antioxidant protection, and support collagen production. When used at different times of the day, both actives complement each other effectively — Vitamin C by day and Retinal by night.

This serum delivers approximately 0.11% pure retinal — which sits at the higher end of what's typically found in retinal products on the market (where concentrations commonly range from 0.025% to 0.1%.)

Our retinal is encapsulated for stability. Using cyclodextrin-based encapsulation technology, it's protected from degradation caused by light, heat, and oxygen.

Retinal helps boost skin cell turnover, so it’s best followed with a moisturiser to help lock in hydration. It can also increase skin sensitivity to UV exposure, making daily sunscreen essential to protect your skin and maintain your results.
